The Geometry of Geometric Series

Audience:

Tags: calculusgeometryseriesvisualization

Visualize the geometric series terms as the areas of trapezoids that aggregate into a single right triangle whose area represents the geometric series sum. With an image of the geometric series to go along with the equation, the concept of geometric series is multimodal and therefore more memorable.

The proof was nothing mind blowing or interesting, and rhe whole article seems a bit too long for the simple concept.

This is a simple yet effective visualisation to explain a proof! It is similar to the rearrangement proof for the Pythagorean theorem. I enjoyed it and it was clear. The main improvement I can think of is that an animation to show the triangles morphing into the trapezoid would have been great.
