This was fantastic! Very clean animations, your phrasing was concise and well-spoken, and I really like going through an involved worked example to showcase the usefulness of the theory. Providing extra questions at the end is also great.

There were some minor pacing issues which I think could cause students to get lost somewhat in the depth of the explanation. The 5-step outline was useful, but small one-sentence reminders of “the calculation we are about to do achieves the following aim …” to keep track of the broad structure of the proof, as well as brief insights as to why we would see to take this approach. Also add some extra pauses to the animations, so new objects and equations are left on the screen for longer as you talk about them.

This was an excellent video. I like how you tackled a difficult problem and tried to solve it by seeking true understanding and not just memorizing formless. I also like Tower at the end you did a good job of summarizing why we did this and what was very interesting about the problem. Nice work.

Whoa, that flew fast. Very action-packed, I bet most viewers either know already the subject matter as well as you do, or will have trouble following. Topic, organization and ”plot” were spot-on however. This video would have great potential with a lot of added work in elaboration and visuals.

Of guideline points, motivation and novelty nailed; clarity could be greatly improved (maybe by someone else? There are SO many videos here with great explanations of way lamer topics), and that might also improve memorability ;)

Great blackboard talk!

  • The fully black at 18:36 is just not enough, sorry. Deadline pressure?
  • A bit too much small-letter text. I’ve started on desktop and switched to mobile to check, and indeed it was hard to read.
  • It misses the opportunity to use visuals and animations to convey the message. I’d definitely bring the plot of a-b-…-g much earlier in the video, and I’d show the permutations there, too, not just on the 3x3 grid.

Minor technical comment: keep the definitions of u and v up there when you calculate 3uv and u^3+v^3, I was a bit lost there for a second, because I didn’t listen carefully enough on the previous blackboard.

I stopped watching the video about halfway. I think the following guideline has not been taken into account at all:

Clarity: Jargon should be explained, the goals of the lesson should be easy to understand with minimal background knowledge, and the presentation should show care for people who might be new to the topic.

It’s probably a good video for people already knowledgeable about Galois theory, but does not give much insight to others. I don’t think it is suitable for SoME.

Well done, though some steps disappeared a little quickly. Please put links to videos of theories cited in the description. Interesting topic.

I like the sound and speed of your voice. Also, the minimalistic animation style is neat and pleasant to watch. That being said, it still felt a bit like I was watching a recording of lecture (with much better visualisations). I think some more motivation and context would turn this from a highly informative video to a highly informative and easy to watch video. Nonetheless, I learnt something new and the explanations were very clear.

The thumbnail was deceptive. It is essentially a voiceover walkthrough of the proof with no visualization.

To me the video is just going through equations with no motivation why we do what is shown. So, if one has not some background on the specific topics used in the video then it is basically impossible to follow.

Explanations could have probably been a bit clearer, but this obviously seems to require prerequisite knowledge that I may not have. I liked the hook at the beginning, though, with an obviously complex and seemingly arbitrary sequence of steps and that provides a very good motivation towards building that from the ground up, and I like some of the visuals with the moving blocks around
