In general, I like the idea of a brain teaser expressed as a “paradox” where one has to find the erroneous assumption or the logical fallacy in the argument. Here though, the “paradox” appears way too late in the video (10 minutes in, in a 17 minute video!). I think that, without going into any computation, you could have argued directly that in the reference frame of the space craft:
- the potential energy of the earth and sun is constant because it only depends on their distance
- the kinetic energy of the sun “is constant”
- the kinetic energy of the earth varies because the magnitude of its speed varies, without having to tell about the cycloid and whatnot…
I would a reason to watch - give me a hook. It wasn’t clear what the end point was going to be so the steps were clear individually, but I could not understand where the step might fit in the overall answer.
For an engaging entry title, start the video with that same hook or excitement. Good luck and hope to see you again for the next SoME year.
