I recently did a relativity exam but the explanation here is so engaging that it made a confusing topic actually intuitive.
Good idea to use Minecraft for explanations, but the material is a bit too much, maybe several shorter but more focused videos would be better.. Also, the shader was so briefly introduced, so it is not clear what is going on with it.
The quick animations for formula derivations are difficult to follow. They are too fast.
Good video, and a topic that would often be covered in classes for students. My real misgiving is I feel like there’s nothing that particularly stands out in this video that I think would stick in its mind, or would help a student more than any other. Oddly enough I feel like the minecraft of it all is in a bit of a weird space; I feel like it would have been improved by either completely omitting it and doing something more original, or going all in and taking more relevant points and examples (eg. talking about actually moving in minecraft for classic relativity; redstone is also a “speed limit” that things could be measured against, etc.); though that probably won’t work as well for a general or SoME audience, it would probably be a bit more unique and would probably stand out more for some particular students.
Thank you for this fun and informative video! I was delighted by a couple of aspects, including the multiple simulations in minecraft to give us an intuitive understanding of the postulates of relativity. I’ll admit I did get a bit lost at a few points, for example during the Lorentz transformation. Maybe if this part started out slower it would have been easier to follow along.
Visuals are appropriate and help get ideas across. Needs more work on grammar. I really like the explanation of the car fitting in the garage paradox.
This is a very funny and creative way to explain this topic. At first, it seemed like this is a topic that’s covered 1000 times on YouTube, but I was wrong about that. You go much deeper than the typical exposition, and you even go over the formula for boosts. The animation with the trains is really good.
This video is perfectly adequate, but the explanations probably wouldn’t be very enlightening to someone unfamiliar with the material (at least, not more than the average explainer on the topic). I’m also not sure what the minecraft is doing for us here.
Using Minecraft will certainly interest students that have used it before. So, great idea for meeting students where they are at! The equations look crisp and clear and the overall clarity of the explanations is very good! It is a long video, but it can be watched in sections. So, overall, nice work!
This video helped clear up some conceptual fuzziness about relativity, but it introduced concepts that it failed to deliver on. For example, does the car actually fit into the garage? What does “the notion of the car fitting into the garage is dependent on the frame of reference” even mean? Or to make it more Einsteinian, which twin is actually older when the spaceship returns?
Minecraft and math just combines well. The animations are well done! And there’s a good mix between mathing and mining. The video and motivation is clear; the topic is not entirely novel, but still intriguing; and thanks to the smooth visuals and animations it’s quite memorable.
