This seems like a simple video due to how it’s been filmed, but the audio application you’ve presented the topic in is actually cool to see. Of course, there’s not much video editing (at least compared to other entries I’ve seen) but I think it fits this very applied style of math.
I know this was filmed with a phone camera, but I would have liked a slightly better audio quality. Also, as a coder, a better showcase of your code would have been nice.
At the end a bit more explanation would have been nice, but that’s only because this branch of math isn’t my strength.
You could take a bit more time organizing the video such as just explaining what you are doing: I was quite confused when you started building a radio near the beginning.
I really like that you built the circuit in real-life, but it would have been nice to break it down a bit more and to adjust the pacing.
I didn’t understand why the circuit shown at around 1:00 performs amplitude modulation - it would have been nice to explain that a bit more in depth. That made me feel at sea for the rest of the video.
The math shown at 9:00 is nice, but it would have been nice to explain what filtration is - the fact that we can deconstruct the transmitted signal seems really exciting and I think that it, along with “we can transmit more information”, should have been the main selling point at the start of the video rather than the end.
the barrier to entry for this video felt very high as someone who knows a bit about hardware but not that much, i was able to keep up but i struggled otherwise very cool concept to learn about i had no clue this even existed
I’m a sucker for practical examples, and having a breadboard breakout is very nice. I’m glad you showed a circuit diagram first (would have loved to have had a little more time for that first). It’s clear from the presenter’s comfort with this demo that they’re very knowledgeable about the topic. This video reminds me of Ben Eater’s “The world’s worst video card,” an exploration in building a video card from just components on a breadboard. I would look to that video for some inspiration for how to hone your presentation, as your clarity could use just a bit more work, especially for the “middle school” tag.
The core idea is sound, and it’s a cool project. But you’re assuming a lot of background knowledge that the audience doesn’t have, like what a carrier signal is or what each electronic component does. When you’re making the receiver, you show how it transforms the signal, which is helpful. Maybe build up each circuit one component at a time and show how each affects the transformation.
