Summer of Math Exposition

The pace and audio need significant improvement.

Motivation: 6/9 - I really liked the introduction, it was catchy and I wanted to know more. At first I thought that it was an intro to existance proofs, but it turned out to be something more specific and fun.

Clarity: 4/9 - These masses of text ruined it for me a bit, because I felt like reading them was necessary, but I didn’t have time to read those becuase of your explanation hapenning in the background. In other situations, like your example with students and chocolates, I felt like the video lacked a lot. For many moments nothing was moving on the screen, while the example needed visualisations. Your explainer in the background was ok, ofc it might’ve been better with cut out mistakes or better tempo, but it was fine.

Novelty: 5/9 - The topic and method you chose to showcase it is broadly known. Nonetheless it’s a great topic and very broad - you mentioned a lot of interesting facts and I appreciate that

Memorability: 6/9 - the introduction shined here, especially the thumbnail (not very related to the topic, but still cute). The rest of the video was mostly forgettable, especially on the desing part. On the other hand I appreciate the different types of media you used to communicate different stuff - stock videos, text, hand drawn stuff, I think it’s the way to go.

Overall: 6,25/9 - I think it was a great video for a school presentation and I would notch it up a bit for YT standards. Good job, especially if it was your first vid!

The examples were not super clear, especially with Ramsey numbers.

The audio of the video should be raised by a lot. It would also be pretty good if the visuals for the examples were clearer; the examples talked about in the video are mostly elaborated via text, which makes it less intuitive. Having a more interesting script and investing in some more time would be beneficial. This entire video was made with a single recording, which I don’t recommend. By splitting the recording into different sections, not only will you be able to take brief breaks, but if you made any mistake you can go re-record that section without redoing the whole thing.

This video, in terms of structure, is set up like a regular lecture. Be careful: due to the choice of colors and contrasts, not all the text is easily readable. Suggestion: remember the rule of six - no more than six words per line, no more than six lines per slide. If students start reading, they can no longer listen to what you are saying. You’ll see that just by following this advice your content will already appear less confusing.
