Surds were intimidating when I was in high school, now that I understand them, they aren't so serious.

what is a surd? I haven’t heard of it until you explained it only half way into the video (maybe it’s not a US thing). What’s the point of explainig this if I can google it and get the same info?

I hate to give this a low rating because honestly I didn’t mind watching this but unfortunately it just doesn’t stack up to the other entries I’ve rated. Stylistically it’s just someone talking to a camera for two minutes, but more importantly it doesn’t actually explain anything concrete in regards to why surds are important. The video just explains what an irrational number is and then states that surds can represent them without really elaborating on anything.

Interestingly I’ve never heard the term “surds” before this video because I’ve always just referred to them as roots but that’s about the only thing I can say about this.

I didn’t know the term “surd” before, and now I do, so that’s nice! I like the thumbnail as well. However, I had to google “surd” to actually get the definition, there were no visualizations or examples shown, and I’m not sure what the main takeaway from this video is - unless it’s “it’s the only way to precisely write down irrational numbers”, in which case that could have been made clearer.
