I teach general problem-solving techniques by focusing on a problem related to machine vision and positioning systems. I chose this problem because it can be broken down into many smaller ones. We learn how to identify these sub-problems, how to prioritize them and what to do when they’re interconnected: how to isolate them so they can be worked on independently and how to determine if our solution is correct. We build a method from the ground up using just simple reasoning and high school-level math. We first figure out how to solve the problem by hand, then by automating the steps with simple but powerful algorithms. These will be implemented from scratch and explained step-by-step using visuals. The content is aimed at beginners, such as high school students, who want to sharpen their skills and better understand why those things they study in math class are important in practice.

It’s a great instruction video with clear motivation and hands on application contexts. However it’s more of a 4 hours long coding class than a math education tool. Not saying the abstract thinking skills aren’t important, but it deviates from the theme quite a bit.

Wow that was an extremely deep dive into computer vision, simulation, data interpretation, and optimization. With the amount of content covered at the level of coverage, I would be hard-pressed to make a shorter video too. This video inspired curiosity and brought up how certain ideas were applicable in more general areas. The production quality was high throughout, and there were pauses whenever a clarification felt needed. However, due to the length, I think people would be intimidated to watch it through. I know there were frequent reminders for breaks and times to stop and take notes, but this was a lot of information. If someone were to make a shorter video, I would assume this would involve leaving the coding segments out. With how the video is structured and compared to the vision of the creator, I think this is a fitting and solid entry.

Not sure if this video / CS course is good fit for SoME, but by golly, thanks for making this available to everyone! Good for youngsters to watch videos longer than a tiktok dance :D

I hope many watch it and feel encouraged to pick up coding. CodeParade etc never really show the nitty gritty like you did.

I wished all my computer science students would watch this! Obviously, a tiny little bit too long to actually make it mandatory 😅

Four hours is an incredibly daunting video. Sorry, I didn’t spend that much of my time just to judge this entry.

I cannot follow a 4-hour video; it would take away time from discovering other channels and giving my opinion. I could not suggest it to students either. Try to break the content into smaller parts; otherwise, it cannot be a video accessible to everyone. The topic is very general… why not make it more specialized and fragmented? Another suggestion: cut out the dead time. The computer science part is very detailed, not within the reach of every high school.
