There is too much information that might not be relevant to most of math enthusiasts. It’s really difficult to follow through. The viewers donot have time to soak in the information.
The sweep is real: one subject carried from Babylon to GPS. But the film mostly lists, names and tables each given a moment and none given weight; it is best when it stops, once for the story of a name, once for a worked series. Stop more, list less.
It is very nice to see a video on a topic that goes beyond just regular math topics. A video that explains the history of math is just as important as a video explaining the math itself.
Unfortunately, this is nothing new and has no unique hook. Its almost like a reading from a wikipedia article and has no original idea and no original lesson.
Also, the speaking part is impossible to follow. I had to turn on CC in order to understand anything at all. (secant should be said as /ˈsiː.kənt/ and you said /ˈsek.ənd/ along with many other speaking mistakes)
- Jojo reference was great!
- Visuals were good
- It felt disconnected, unrelated summaries of origins
- Lack of a novel connection in the history of trigonometry. Looking into a new, previously unconsidered angle or connection among all these separate events would have made the video even better.
