While the conclusion in your video is correct, I would still suggest, that you show, how to calculate the mean and median in general. A person that does not know the topic would maybe not understand, why you divide by 5 to calculate the mean (so you should mention that in general, you have to divide through the length of the sequence) and you did not mention at all, how to calculate the median (sorting the list and chose the element in the center). You’re style of drawing on a tablet and recording with 60fps is unique however which visually distinguishes your video from others.
Sadly, aside from the otherwise concise presentation, there isn’t much to add here.
- The main topic is not really introduced or reasoned about as in why we should care.
- The narrator’s voice is in mono, only audible from the left ear.
- Two examples are not proof, and while it is aimed at high-schoolers, it still should have some additional generalization.
I think that the main motivation to finish watching the video is it’s short length. But in this case, I believe that it’s very short length puts it at a slight disadvantage because there is no real explenations, just examples. I feel it’s a good video if you already understand the topic of mean and median, but would do more harm than good if you are not well-versed in the subject because the definition of “the mean feels what happens on the edges and the median doesn’t” is very vague and doesn’t explain well the idea of a median. If the video is solely intented to deepen one’s understanding of the subject, then I think that it should be explicitly metionned, but it constitutes in a great resource if that’s its goal.
First of all there should be a proper explanation of mean and median and the last point seemed wrong, mean gives a feel of end numbers, maybe mouthslip then why we need these tools can be better as this video is for highschool. Though informatively fully correct
This is a decent illustration of the difference between the median and mean, however I felt like it leaked motivation. It might have been helped by an explanation of what mean and median are and how they are determined, as well as why it is worth knowing the difference between the two.
