Figuring out what was happening in this visualization required knowledge of what it was trying to visualize. It’s a neat tool only if you already know the topic. Some instructions and a writeup would be very useful.
This is a very interesting visualizer, and it’s fun to mess around with. I wish that there was a little more explanation for the math behind it, though. Also I had the page hang for me a few times while trying to play around with it.
The main visual interface practically begs to be one where you can click and drag around the point at which the derivative is being visualized, but alas one needs to play around with the buttons on top until one figures out which give the desired adjustments. Also elements like the part where you draw a line to match the slope at the point does not really add much to the explanatory power of the visualization, and serves to clutter the overall experience needlessly. Overall, good idea but one that feels like the process for making was focused on including as many elements as possible rather than prioritizing a subset and making those ‘feel’ better to use or provide something more explanatory than merely amusing.
Didn’t developed any background or what was it about …
