Summer of Math Exposition

I wish I had this when I was learning about moles. If there’s some feedback, I would have liked it to go a little half step further; talk about the physical meaning of Avogadro’s number, and hint a bit more about how this helps you figure out chemical reactions.

Surprising and fun format using a Canva comic! I would perhaps change the target audience to at most undergraduate and at least middle school, and adjust the description, since the students are using a type of scale after all, though this has little to do with the entry itself. Here, I would suggest some additional lines to connect the concept of 1 mol to the concept of number of nails (e.g., you can only buy the nails in packs of 6), and perhaps some additional information about the origin and value of Avogadro’s number.

I think the strong part of this is the story which is entertaining and engaging to explain the thought process behind how stochiometric ratios work and are important to measure which would be very useful to explain to a student in elementary/middle school.

I think I would like to see slightly more detail in how you could use it in chemistry to improve it and interactive visual for myself to try out on a problem to help fix the concept in my head. Being a visual medium as a comic, I think the visual element could be highlighted more as well to help the demonstration of the idea being clearer.

The art style is horrendous, the text is barely readable (poor font choice + distracting colors). I legit tried to read this, but I couldn’t.

This was a pretty entry with well drawn graphics that made it engaging. However it did not feel novel or memorable, since the a-ha moment was too simple for me. I also didn’t understand how it related to chemistry. Additionally there was too much text in a story that could have been told in half the dialogue.

The visuals were great but I would not say that it was a particularly eye-opening explainer.
