Summer of Math Exposition

I was happy to be served a video about the finite difference method since I had come across it, but never looked into the details. Nonetheless, I would have appreciated a clearer motivation set by the video, e.g. one concrete application of the Poisson equation. I feel that the video stayed too close to a slideset format and could have leveraged the video format more ambitiously. Quite often, I felt overwhelmed by the amount of information on screen and did not know which part I should focus on. While it was rather dry, I appreciated the clarity of your voice over.

I would really like some more movtivation on the topics since poisson equation is such a useful tool in science. In addition to showing the audience the matrix that approximate poisson equation, the author should discuss more about why this matrix is widely chosen and what are some properties of this matrix.

The video is structured like a lecture rather than a 3b1b style video and does flow a bit fast for someone not accustomed with linear algebra or numerical analysis, but the explanation is clear and well organized. Would have loved some code examples.

A good, detailed introduction to FDM. While this could work well as a lecture, it does not use any particular advantages of web video, and so I think the general advantages it has over textbooks or a standard class is lacking.

This “video” is really just a powerpoint lecture, and therefore is not very effective overall. The beauty of using video is that you can do so much more than you can in a regular lecture. Unfortunately, the creator does not seem to be aware of this fact. There’s not “wrong” with the powerpoint lecture, per se, but it’s not terribly engaging and I would expect the target audience to be bored by this video.

A good lecture, and I appreciate the images. It did feel sort of dry though, and it was hard to perceive a motivation or application or “story” for selling to someone who doesn’t yet care.

The audio was also too quiet.
