I’ve learned something new thanks to this video, even if it’s a small thing. I’m going to use the mathematical trick from “Level 1” from now on whenever I have the chance. It’s simple, but effective.
At “Level 3” I would have loved to see why the inductive reasoning from “Level 2” also holds true for the entire universe and especially other universes. I understand the power of inductive reasoning, but as a beginner I’m still a bit confused by that.
Nice presentation of Gauss’s proof. I think it might have been nice if the video had featured more interaction with the students. It felt for much of the video that they were just spectators rather than involved in this exploration.
I think it’s better than most because the way he taught should be adopted by every teacher – formulas shouldn’t just be thrown at students
I liked that the students were acting like regular students. Gave a very authentic feel to the entire scenario.
I believe clarity and memorability are the strongest points. Multiple ways to reach the solution help with both of those aspects.
Some motivating elements are there, but they feel disconnected somehow… It’s not convincing that the formula would hold in a universe with different rules. I mean, if the rules can be anything we can imagine, couldn’t there be some combination where the formula would break? How do you prove there isn’t?
The novelty is the lowest point. The examples are standard, and most people know them already.
Generally a good explanation but the topic is very basic and covered a lot of times. Also the whole visual style didn’t click with me. I think it wasn’t very consistent (usage of different fonts, different graphic styles). Also music in the background is rather silly and doesn’t suit such explainer imo. The storytelling itself was great.
I think it’s.a fairly standard topic. Gauss’s story, triangular numbers, and the inductive proof for them are standard topics. I’m giving it an average score because while the math is sound, I didn’t learn anything original.
