H-cobordism

Audience:

A short animated introduction to the h-cobordism theorem, handle cancellation, and the high-dimensional Poincaré conjecture, imitating the look and feel of old rubber-hose cartoons.

The current version is unfinished and may be temporarily removed; I plan to revise it before voting begins.

Wins strong points for charm but I did not really learn about the named concepts.

love it, good for giving an idea, it would be really good if it had an explanation (not necessarily a video) to accompany it

4.5

Loved it, although I didn’t understand it.

I found it too short with not enough explanation for how we can undrill the hole, some more explanation would be better.

Haha thanks for this!

It’s hard to be constructive with this video. I feel as though there might be a snippet of a good idea here, but the idea was not developed nearly enough. The viewer is left asking themselves, “what was that?”

5.3

Really like the style and simplicity, but was rather short. Very creative and memorable.

8.4

Didn’t explain the math at all but I loved the medium

3

I don’t get what this means, like, at all.

Ehh, is that it? It’s cute but I needed a bit more. I didn’t feel like I learned anything. Your video presents the hook well, “How can adding more holes bring the sphere back together?”, but then it just sort of… jumps to the conclusion with no explanation. Fun music though.

Cute idea, but you didn’t really explain anything.
