We don't know how to solve the Hardest Logic Puzzle ever

Welcome to the Academy of Useless Ideas! In this video, we begin our journey to solve "the hardest logic puzzle ever." But first, we’ll make a detour to a classic riddle—the two doors and two guards problem from the movie Labyrinth. We’ll build a tiny logical toolbox to construct a mathematical model of the puzzle. This isn't just about finding a clever solution; it's about learning a powerful method to engineer questions using propositional logic and its five key connectives: NOT, AND, OR, IMPLIES, and IF AND ONLY IF. By the end, you'll see how this formal language helps us design a question that works every time and how this same approach can be used to tackle even more complex problems.

A really well-motivated look at a nice problem. The pauses to make the viewer think are great too. However, Pell’s equtaions and square-triangular numbers are already well-covered topics online.

Motivation: 6/9 - the topic was nicely introduced and it gained my attention.

Clarity: 5/9 - good pace of explanation (maybe a bit too slow with the non-math bits in the middle), I liked the meta sence of the video of what solving a math problem is really about. I just wish the solution was finished, because we weren’t that far from home :D

Novelty: 4/9 - I knew this problem before and the simple, partial solution was know to me before too. Afaik it’s a known problem, especially in basic number theory courses and I would expect something extra from showing it in a video, like explaining it to the end, maybe tying it all together with a general problem of Pell’s equation or general problem of numbers that are figurative in both ways.

Memorability: 6/9 - The desing was decent, but in many moments (like, at the beginning, mentioning other square numbers) that more stuff happened on the screen. Also the video was very monochromatic - I would love to see more colors used in the future. Nonetheless the slow pace and the dialogues made me like the style overally.

Overall: 6,25/9 - It was a nice one, keep going! Especially towards number theory, since I love it!

This video quickly decayed into calculations which I found a little tedious, and I don’t think the philosophy about how to solve math problems was integrated super well. It was a cool result, though!

Strong beginning with good motivation presented. The square arranging into a triangle is a simple, straightforward, and easy-to-understand problem and is well-introduced. The introduction of the question is good. The approach to duplicate triangle and turn gives an intuitive way to get the triangle formula. The conversation between stick figures was good and gave more memorability. However, the factorising and final solution is very very sudden giving almost no feel of “solving the problem myself”. There is no discussion of what COULD be the approach to get 1225 and what the different method MIGHT be (to help the viewer out). Or is there a closed form solution not dependent on previous sols.
